Figures in Suspension: Unbinding the Body – Opening Reception | 24 March 2026
125 Space presents Figures in Suspension: Unbinding the Body, a solo exhibition by Alexandria Coe — now on view in Limassol. Bringing together a series of drawings and paintings, the exhibition approaches the human figure not as a fixed image, but as something in flux — suspended between presence and absence, observation and abstraction.
Rooted in a rigorous drawing practice, Coe reduces the body to its most essential elements: line, gesture and mass. Through acts of restraint and omission, form emerges gradually, allowing each figure to exist in a state of quiet ambiguity — softened, unresolved, and held within an undefined spatial and psychological field. At the centre of the exhibition lies the idea of unbinding — a deliberate undoing of the visual and cultural systems that shape how the body is perceived. By removing narrative, hierarchy and overt expression, Coe creates space for a more open, fluid reading of the figure — one that resists categorisation and remains in constant transformation.
Stillness becomes a defining condition throughout the works. Figures recline, extend or hover without drama, existing in a suspended state where meaning is neither imposed nor resolved. Now on view at 125 Space, the exhibition invites a slower, more considered encounter.
Opening Reception
To mark the exhibition, 125 Space will host an opening reception on:
Tuesday, 24 March 2026
18:00
125 Space, Limassol
The reception offers a moment to experience the exhibition collectively — to move through the space, engage with the works, and enter the quiet, suspended world Coe has created.
Working between London and Athens, Alexandria Coe’s multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, painting, ceramics and textile, with drawing at the core of her inquiry. Her work continues to explore the body as a site of possibility — open, mutable and continually unfolding.
